Spotlight Celebration
On Wednesday, December 14th, Allen Central Middle School held a celebration to honor the Students of the Month. 8th Grade students honored were: Charlotte Jacobs, Emily Dalton, Nick Combs, Kess Wright, Rachel Bailey, Tera Music, Cheyanne Combs, and Brandy Osborne. 7th Grade students honored were: Cheyenne Taylor, Kelsey Parsons, Ryan Hall, Jackson Dye, Victoria Kimbel, Matthew Wright, Hannah Crum and Julia Flanery. 6th Grade students honored were: Kendra Collins, Michael Prater, Peyton Hall, Madison Turner, Denora Jones, Dawson Stephens, Kaitlyn Webb and Keisha Vanderpool.

6th Grade Showcase Results
Several 6th grade students competed in the 6th Grade Showcase at Warfield Middle School on Saturday, December 3rd, 2011.

Congratulations Patriot Pen Winners!!!
Mr. Larry Sexton and Mr. Paul Edwards of the Prestonsburg Chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (V.F.W.) visited A.C.M.S on Tuesday, November 29th to make several presentations. First they announced the winners of the Patriot Pen Essay Contest.
Third Place ($100) was awarded to Cheyanne Combs.
Second Place ($200) was awarded to Chelsea Austin.
First Place ($300) was awarded to Jordan Pack.
Mr. Sexton and Mr. Edwards also awarded Mrs. Cecilia Prater (A.C.M.S. Music Teacher) with Teacher of the Year and a check for $100. Congratulations!!!
Third Place ($100) was awarded to Cheyanne Combs.
Second Place ($200) was awarded to Chelsea Austin.
First Place ($300) was awarded to Jordan Pack.

A.C.M.S. Ranked 13th In The State!
Congratulations to our students, faculty and staff! Out of 324 middle schools in the state of Kentucky, Allen Central Middle School ranked 13th on the 2010-2011 state assessment.
Honoring All Who Served
On November 10, 2011, Allen Central Middle School and James A. Duff Elementary School held a joint assembly to honor America's veterans. Retired Floyd County School Teacher and United States Army Veteran, Mr. Willie Elliott was the guest speaker. There were 37 veterans in attendance including members of Garrett, KY Chapter 128 of the Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.). Special thanks to Sgt. Jerry Hardy and the Allen Central High School J.R.O.T.C. for presenting the colors during the program and to the parents, teachers and staff who assisted in providing and hosting a reception for the veterans prior to the program.
S.T.L.P. Members State Bound
For the first time in school history, members of the A.C.M.S. Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) qualified to compete at the State STLP Competition! J.T. Layne, Matt Combs, Josh Grindrod, Allison Hyden, Peyton Triplett and Nick Combs scored 113 out of a possible 118 points on their project, A Holiday to Remember. The State STLP State Competition will be held in Lexington, KY in March 2012. CONGRATULATIONS and GOOD LUCK at STATE!!!!!!
S.T.L.P. Fall Showcase
Several 8th Grade members of the A.C.M.S. Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) participated in the Fall Showcase at the Eastern Kentucky Expo Center, in Pikeville, KY on November 3, 2011. Three projects were entered in the showcase: A.C.M.S. Rebelcast (news show), The 8th Grade Gazette (newsletter) and A Holiday to Remember (public service announcement). Students participating were: Sarah Grindrod, Jannah Halbert, Courtney Henson, J.T. Layne, Matt Combs, Josh Grindrod, Allison Hyden, Peyton Triplett and Nick Combs.
All County Chorus
Nineteen Allen Central Middle School students were chosen by audition to participate in the Floyd County All County Chorus Festival. The festival was held at the Mountain Arts Center from November 1-3, 2011. A.C.M.S. All County Chorus members were: Mya Dixon, Chelsea Frasure, Sarah Peters, Bryce Moore, Elizabeth Shepherd, Whtiley McKinney, Shawna Holbrook, Chelsea Austin, Breanna Thompson, Michael Prater, Briana Conley, Cheyanne Combs, Katy Newman, Hannah Gibson, Faith Mitchell, Jordan Pack, Charla Rister, Kerry Burke and Summer Pelphrey. Congratulations to those students!
